Who We Are:

The Advisory Council is a convening body comprised of diverse stakeholders from across the School of Social Work, including staff, faculty, students, and administration, as well as alumni and community representatives. The Advisory Council works collaboratively to plan, coordinate and move identified tasks and priorities forward in alignment with UMB and SSW.

Advisory Council Composition: The Advisory Council is comprised of 1-2 designated representatives from various stakeholder groups who serve as liaisons and are tasked with sharing updates, offering input, and elevating the interests and priorities of their constituent groups. Having designated representatives creates a mechanism for accountability and two-way communication, and also helps to streamline the work while at the same time ensuring that there is broad input and diverse perspectives.

Stakeholder groups represented on the Advisory Council may include the following representatives from Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, Faculty Organization Committee, Staff Council, Student Council, Doctoral Program, SSW alumni and Baltimore community members.

An Advisory Council Chair and Co-Chair are appointed by the outgoing co-chairs, in collaboration with the Dean of ACE and confirmed through a vote by Advisory Council members to guide and oversee the work of the council. To get involved with the Advisory council please email the co-chairs

Meeting Cadence

The Advisory Council meets monthly to share information, formulate plans, and ensure movement forward on identified ACE priorities through actionable strategies and initiatives.

Open “All School” meetings are held periodically to seek input, provide updates, and share important information with the SSW community.
