MSW and MPH

The School of Social Work offers two Social Work/Public Health dual-degree program: 1) the MSW/MPH program in partnership with the University of Maryland School  of Medicine, Department of Epidemiology and Public Health, and 2) in partnership with the Johns Hopkins University, Bloomberg School of Public Health. The purpose of MSW/MPH dual degree program is to prepare graduates to assume leadership positions and program administration in health-related agencies and settings, to advance the science of health disparitiesresearch, and to deliver multi-level practice interventions for at-risk populations. The MSW/MPH dual degree is a three year program.  Full-time students complete  their Foundation year in the MSW program. The second year, including summers, is spent in the MPH program.  Students then return to the MSW programin their Final year. The School of Social Work allows 6 to 9 credits of its program to be completed in the MPH program; these may include 3 credits of research requirements and 6 credits of advanced policy or electives. This allows students to complete both the MSW and MPH programs with fewer courses than if they had to enroll ineach program separately.
