What is BHWISE Lifespan?
The Behavioral Health Workforce Integration Service and Education, (BHWISE) Fellowship started in 2014 with the first of three multi-year, million-plus dollar behavioral health workforce training grants (BHWET) from the Health Resources Services Administration (HRSA). The first training grant focused on selecting BHWISE Fellows who were committed to careers in behavioral health services for children, youth, and young adults. From 2017 through the current academic year, UMSSW was awarded continuation funding, recruiting and training an additional 260 MSW students to provide behavioral health services to clients of all ages who live in underserved communities.
Funding Information: The BHWISE Faculty Team is once again applying for continued funding from HRSA for the BHWISE Lifespan program, which financial support for the fellowship for academic year 2025-2026 is contingent upon. UMSSW has a 10-year record supporting HRSA’s goal to ensure growth of the behavioral health workforce to work in under resources communities. Based on receipt of this award, we will continue to recruit students for the advanced year fellowship in behavioral health. Please check our "How to Apply" tab frequently for updates on information sessions and deadlines.
BHWISE Fellows are supported in their advanced practicum year with a stipend of at least $10,000 minimum per student.
