FSWI, along with the Latino Economic Development Center (LEDC as the lead partner), and community partners from Baltimore City and Washington, DC, received a grant from JPMorgan Chase for a project focused on the Prioritizing Our Women’s Economic Rise (POWER) project. Prioritizing Our Women’s Economic Rise (POWER) is a three-year grant focused on wealth-building and workforce development for Black and Latina women throughout Baltimore City. A coalition of local community-based organizations are providing training, resources, access to capital, and wraparound supports to help women pursue careers in high-growth, non-traditional sectors including real estate, construction, and entrepreneurship. As part of the project, Black and Latina women developers will be participating in regular convenings to help influence policy change tied to affordable housing in Baltimore City (including advocacy around SB 859). UMSSW and FSWI are lead evaluators for the grant.
