FSWI and Dr. Tisa Silver Canady, Founder and Director of the Maryland Center for Collegiate Financial Wellness (MCCFW), received a grant from the Woodside Foundation to conduct an evaluation study of a grant-funded pilot project to develop and implement a Student Loan Coaching Program at the UMSSW. This year-long project will train ten social work students and practitioners to offer financial coaching for students at the School who are experiencing financial distress, especially around their student loan debt. The project also includes a research component to evaluate not only the coaches’ experience with receiving the training to become coaches, but also the experiences of the students receiving the student loan debt coaching.
