How Donors Impact BHWell
Check out our impact from 2022-2023. By providing financial support for BHWell, you advance research, evaluation and training that impacts essential services for individuals, families, and communities. There are different ways to support collaborative research, training, and education:
BHWell Research Impact Fund
By providing flexible support for BHWell, you’re helping us stay nimble and responsive as we strive to meet our mission of advancing behavioral health and promoting well-being across the lifespan.
Gifts to this fund support activities such as creating and piloting an innovative research idea, an educational request from a student or perhaps the community expansion of BHWell programming.
Scholarship and Stipend Support
Donors can provide scholarship and stipend support for MSW and PhD students who are working closely with BHWell faculty associates. Stipends compensate students for their work on research projects. Scholarships are an important way to reduce students’ financial burden as they study for their graduate (or post-graduate) degree. Both are critical needs to support the development of future social work behavioral health and well-being researchers and practitioners.
Funding for student support can also help students attend national and international conferences where they can present their research, learn from leaders in the field and generate thought and interest for improving the field.
Endowment Support
Supporters can also establish endowment funds that provide a continuous source of funding for BHWell. Endowment donors can fund permanent, full-time named professors, research assistants/associate professors, and/or postdoctoral fellows who conduct and assist in impactful community-engaged research projects. Donors may choose to establish endowments to solidify their legacy and commitment within the School of Social Work, while actively building the social work research workforce of the future.

Your Gift in Action: Alumni support
Given the ever-changing global landscape of mental health needs, it’s imperative for Social Workers and other mental health practitioners to work in tandem with researchers to implement effective practice methods. As our clients’ environments are ever-changing, Social Worker-led research is critical to ensuring health and wellbeing for all. Research informs practice and practice informs research. Dr. Frey’s leadership and experience with both research and practice instills the utmost confidence. The studies that BHWell faculty and partners select are pragmatic and take into consideration clinical operations to successfully implement new evidence-based practices. Dr. Frey collaborates with the field and is curious about how to resolve/solve challenges. The school’s Social Work in the Workplace Program offers insight into the work that Focused Solutions offers.

The work we do in BHWell is community focused and has application for the field of social work and behavioral health services. So this research is applied and makes a real difference in the lives of people in our communities.
