April Cavaletto, LMSW, is a doctoral student at the University of Maryland School of Social Work. She completed her MSW with a concentration in Children, Youth, and Families from Arizona State University where her capstone project focused on the use of Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with youth survivors of sexual assault. April has worked as a program coordinator for youth programs and as a domestic violence shelter advocate. She has experience working directly with with survivors of intimate partner violence and sexual assault, youth in the child welfare system, and international youth.
April’s research interests focus on formal and informal supports for college populations that experience intimate partner violence. She is particularly interested in understanding the pathways for community college students to access formal supports. April is also passionate about preparing MSW students for working with clients that experience forms of gender-based violence.
