Xizi YanXizi Yan, MSW, is an international student from Shanghai, China. Before joining the University of Maryland School of Social Work, her clinical experience involved working with young children with autism from diverse cultural backgrounds, as well as children and adolescents from low-income communities. Ms. Yan’s clinical background and cultural identity provide her with a unique perspective on health disparities among underrepresented populations raising neurodiverse children. During her doctoral studies, her research focuses on culturally responsive, family-centered approaches to strengthening family resilience and improving psychosocial outcomes for individuals with developmental disabilities and their families within Asian American communities.
