Psychedelic Legal Landscape 101: Law and Best Practices

Karina Bashir is an accomplished attorney and thought leader with a specialized focus on the intersection of law, business ethics, and psychedelics. Her legal practice encompasses emerging issues in the psychedelic arena alongside Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) regulatory, enforcement, and litigation issues, AML and FCPA compliance and internal investigations, as well as international human rights.

With nearly a decade of experience in human rights, working extensively with refugees and migrant populations in both the United States and the Middle East, Karina has consistently advocated for marginalized communities. This experience shapes her view that the legalization and regulation of psychedelics should be recognized as a human rights issue, driven by her belief in the significant healing potential of psychedelic medicine. As a human rights advocate in psychedelics, Karina is passionate about improving safe and equitable access to psychedelics through developing best practices and enhancing industry accountability and transparency.

Karina sits on the Board of Directors of the Psychedelic Bar Association and is a steward of the Religious Use Committee. She is a Fulbright Scholar and Gates Cambridge Scholar, holding a Juris Doctor from UC Berkeley School of Law, a Master of Philosophy in International Relations from the University of Cambridge, and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Michigan.
